Templates
Templates provide a predefined structure for the standardized storage of the data of a research project. The use of a particular template in different projects guarantees that the archiving of the project‘s data is compatible and easy to follow.
Templates in fredato
1. GIN Template
The GIN template is a research repository that contains a certain folder structure for the organization of the files. It can be used for any research project and contains storage locations for meta information as well as data, methods and results. Any new experiment is added within the existing template of the project (e.g. for a new experiment you will save the new raw data in data and the new protocol in Material and Methods) without having to rewrite all meta information (e.g. administration files).
1. Project Management
This folder is the storage location for the administration files, accepted grants, meeting minutes, related literature, the data management plan and additional notes.
2. Material and Methods
This folder is the storage location for the protocols (description of all parameters of the experiment) and the code.
3. Data
This folder is the storage location for the raw data (all files coming directly from the hardware during the experiment) and the processed data (results from manually analyzed raw data and created automatically during the software analysis). The raw data is saved per experiment (with the link to its protocol in Material and Methods) in the subfolder defaultexp while manually analyzed data and software analyzed data in the subfolder processed_data.
4. Data Analysis
This folder is the storage location for the code and documentation of the analysis (Matlab scripts, Python scripts, Code Libraries, Excel sheets, describing text).
5. Figures
This folder is the storage location for all figures generated by the software analysis. Figures ready for publication are stored in shared_figures.
6. Disseminations
This folder is the storage location for reports and manuscripts.
7. Misc
This folder is the storage location for misc content.
